FIND YOUR HAPPY CLOSET. This may sound silly, but doing this can really make you feel happier. What you feel, is how you feel. Meaning, wearing something that is uncomfortable or that you don’t like, will cause you to be annoyed and have low self-esteem all day. That alone doesn’t allow for a good day. Little things like this can build up and can affect your happiness. Anything that brings emotion, affects your happiness. So, I challenge you to do what I did. Take a day to pull out everything from your closet and drawers, go through every piece of clothing, shoes, socks, coats, and even purses and ask yourself these questions:
- Does it make me happy?
- Does it serve me?
- Do I like how it feels and how it makes me feel?
Be mindful. From the type of fabric, to the color, and how it fits. These little things can really affect your mood all day and cause you extra stress. So take some time and go through your closet, make a pile to donate to a local church, and make some changes for your happiness. Each item should make you happy, serve you, and make you feel confident. If you can’t quickly reply yes to ALL 3 questions, pull it out of your closet.
Additional questions to consider, will I wear it? How often? Why have it if you know you won’t ever wear it. This can also cause negative emotion. It’s time to challenge yourself to get rid of clothes you will never wear, and clothes that don’t make you feel like you. Clothes that make you happy should be worn, and not just hang in a closet. You can even replace your hangers with pretty ones if that’s what makes you happy. Challenge yourself to wear something you love every single day, to start your day off right.
Reward:
Once you overcome any challenge, treat yourself for all the hard work you did. Be proud of yourself for wanting to create good habits for yourself.
